The talking drum sent messages from village to village by producing a range of notes that could pass information - like Morse code! Or I should say, Morse code was like the talking drum! Squeezing the cowhide strips under a bent arm while striking creates low to high notes and everything in between.
Kente cloth wrap gives it POP even when on the shelf.
